Top 5 Mixed Drinks for Your Next Adventure

Whether you’re posted up at the lake, relaxing at camp after a long day, or hosting a backyard session with friends, a good mixed drink is part of the experience. These five classics are easy to make, easy to scale up, and even easier to keep cold with your ROVR setup.

1. Ranch Water

Light, crisp, and dangerously easy to drink. Ranch Water is basically the unofficial drink of hot days and good times.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4–5 oz sparkling mineral water
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add tequila and fresh lime juice.
  3. Top with sparkling mineral water.
  4. Give it a quick stir.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge.

ROVR Tip: Make a batch of the tequila and lime mixture ahead of time and keep it chilled. Add sparkling water right before serving.

2. Moscow Mule

Cold, refreshing, and packed with ginger flavor, the Moscow Mule is an outdoor classic for a reason.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Fill a cup or mule mug with ice.
  2. Add vodka and lime juice.
  3. Top with ginger beer.
  4. Stir gently.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Make It Your Own: Swap vodka for bourbon for a Kentucky Mule, or tequila for a Mexican Mule.

3. Paloma

If a margarita and a grapefruit soda had a cooler, more adventurous cousin, it would be a Paloma.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • 3–4 oz grapefruit soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • Grapefruit or lime wedge
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add tequila, lime juice, and a small pinch of salt.
  3. Top with grapefruit soda.
  4. Stir gently.
  5. Garnish with grapefruit or lime.

Pro Move: Add a salt rim for an extra hit of flavor.

4. Dark ’n’ Stormy

Bold, spicy, and ridiculously refreshing, the Dark ’n’ Stormy is perfect when you want something with a little more attitude.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 4–5 oz ginger beer
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add ginger beer and lime juice.
  3. Slowly pour the dark rum over the top.
  4. Give it a gentle stir.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge.

ROVR Tip: Keep your ginger beer and ingredients ice cold so you can spend less time mixing and more time hanging out.

5. Whiskey Smash

Fresh lemon, mint, and whiskey make this one a perfect choice for a long afternoon outside.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon or rye
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ½–¾ oz simple syrup
  • 6–8 fresh mint leaves
  • Lemon wedge
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Add mint, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker.
  2. Gently muddle the mint and lemon.
  3. Add whiskey and ice.
  4. Shake vigorously.
  5. Strain over fresh ice.
  6. Garnish with mint and a lemon wedge.

Make It Outdoors: No shaker? Add everything to a sealed bottle or container with ice and give it a good shake.

Keep It Cold. Keep It Outside.

The best drinks aren't necessarily complicated. They're cold, refreshing, easy to make, and best enjoyed with good people and somewhere worth being.

Pack the cooler. Grab the ingredients. Get outside.
